2004 Cascadia Cup

The Cascadia Cup officially began in 2004, organized by the fan groups of three Major League Soccer teams from the Pacific Northwest: Seattle Sounders, Portland Timbers, and Vancouver Whitecaps. The contest included matches from the United Soccer Leagues First Division season between these teams. In the inaugural 2004 Cascadia Cup, Vancouver Whitecaps won the trophy. The competition was a way to fuel the rivalry between the clubs and engage fans in a more inter-region competitive spirit. It soon became an important yearly event for these teams and their respective fanbases.
